Starting this blog off on a huge positive, I ‘d like to say a huge thank you to my neighbours, Janet and Tony for donating £250 to the fundraising effort for MIND, it’s massively appreciated — thank you!

Fundraising for MIND

Super short and simple update for this week, off the back of a big a progressive weekend last week, we decided to go for an easier and rest week this past week. All was going well, my first run of the week on Monday, prior to running 20 miles the day before actually felt pretty good!

The week looked like:

Monday: 20min run.

Tuesday: 47min turbo training session.

Wednesday: 1hr run, around 6.5miles, was aiming to go steady — still happy with distance covered.

Thursday: 1hr swim.

Friday: Rest day.

Saturday: Plan was to do another triathlon: 40min swim, 2hr ride and 45min run. Actually ended up doing a 1hr turbo session.

Sunday: 1hr run planned. Did a 1.5hr turbo training session.

What happened on Saturday morning this week which was not so much according to plan, was finding out I had to isolate for 7 days, due to being in contact with someone who tested positive for covid. This was even more ironic given that this likely happened whilst getting my 2nd vaccination. So this week’s training will all be turbo training focused. But on the positive side, most of the big volume of training is done and the coming weeks are more around tapering.

Whilst I do find this rather frustrating, I guess these are the things in life that you don’t expect and we always hear it’s all about how you bounce back from them and keep moving forwards in the face of unforeseen changes to your plan. So, onwards and upwards to the overall goal of getting my Ironman done! And I’m starting to re-read Can’t Hurt Me to get back in the zone.

Cheers,

Cal :)
